Background
In Japan a lot of veter an engineer s, who are baby boomers, are retiring. Many of them are expert mechanical design engineer s who can predict and avoid dangers which might be happening. This is called“ KY ”in Japanese which is short for“ Kiken Yochi”. “ Kiken Yochi”means“ Danger Prediction”. For young engineers, there are less opportunities to learn from them about safety-design. In this situation, it is very important to study safety - engineering in graduate school.
There are a lot of product-related accidents in the world. Many people are injured or even killed in accidents such as elevator, car, toy and baby carriage accidents . We believe many of these accidents could be prevented by designing them more safely.
Purpose
The purpose of this program is training graduate school students to be mechanical system design engineers who can predict dangers. We hope they will be good leaders regarding the field of safety in the company. We would like to contribute to society to realize a safer world.
Contents of this program

In addition to the ordinary subjects, students who take this program must take the subjects of“ Safety Engineering”,“ Law & Ethics for Engineers” and some others at university. International/domestic internship is another important factor of the program. In the first year of their masters, they go to companies or associations, mainly in Japan, to sur vey what kind of accidents happened there(. Accident Survey) In the second year, they go on international/domestic internship for 2 weeks to learn how to predict dangers. (International /Domestic KY Activities)
